Butterfly Benefit Reaches Out to Women and Children

The Atlanta Women of Vision (WOV) hosted their second annual Butterfly Benefit at the Atlanta Athletic Club this year, raising more than $70,000 toward the support of poverty stricken women and children around the world. Dianne McGarey of Axtell Productions and on-going member of the WOV advisory committee, produced key technical and entertainment aspects of the event.

Evening highlights included a message by honorary chairman John Smoltz, a video presentation narrated by actress and Atlanta WOV member Joanne Pflug, and more than 400 items beautifully displayed in a silent auction during the first three hours of the event. A lively dance band and surprise appearances by Jack Nicholson and Lucille Ball “look-a-likes” added to the fun. “All in all, it was a perfect night” says Event Chairman, Sharon Hicks.

Women of Vision seek to educate and motivate women on the local level to become women of action who invest their time, intellect, compassion, creativity, and finances to meet the needs of suffering women and their children. The Butterfly Benefit for 2003 will be held on March 22 at the J.W. Marriott in Buckhead.
